Afterworld, the $3 million Sony backed 130 part 2-to-3 minute sci-fi animated webisode epic series has been bundled into 13 half-hour episodes to premiere on the Sci-Fi Channel and its website in Australia this month. The free series will be supported by ad revenue after promising runs on Afterworld.tv, bud.tv, YouTube and now MySpace, where it drew more than 1 million viral views in February. The content will also run on Foxtel By Mobile and BigPond TV on Telstra Mobiles.
Afterworld, produced by Electric Farm Ent. was founded by former Disney exec producer Stan Rogow along with Jeff Sagansky, former head of CBS Ent. and former co-president of Sony Pictures Ent. and veteran TV and game writer Brent Friedman. The Gemini Division will be the partners next premium Sci-Fi web spin off, also targeted at tweens.
